ESPN reporter Erin Andrews videotape incident

ESPN reporter Erin Andrews has refiled her lawsuit against the man who pleaded guilty to videotaping her while naked through a peephole and the Nashville Marriott where the incident took place in 2008.

A man videotaped her in her hotel room through the peephole. Andrews filed a lawsuit in 2010 against the hotels for giving out her room number to her stalker and against the stalker himself.

The suit demands a total of $10 million in damages — $6 million from the West End Marriott and $4 million from Michael Barrett, who was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for peeping in on the reporter and circulating his video on the Internet.

Now Reuters is reporting that according to Davidson County Circuit Court records, the suit was originally filed last year and was refiled to make sure the statute of limitations did not run out.

Andrews claimed the highly-publicized incident caused her “great emotional distress and embarrassment” in the suit and said the West End Marriott was guilty of negligence for informing Barrett that she was staying in the hotel and allowing him to book a room next to hers.

In July, 2010, Andrews came to Washington to lobby for tougher stalking laws, basing her stance on her traumatic first-hand experience.
